Fed-up woman beats brother

A woman who flogged her brother after his goats ate her plants told the court she did it because she was fed up.

Simone Cameron, a 40-year-old farmer, of Point Hill district, St Catherine, pleaded guilty with explanation to assault occasioning bodily harm when she appeared before Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Green yesterday.

"Mi 'rana' yes mi lick him pan him han wid a rock stone afta him mek him goat go nyam dung mi field maam. It did hurt mi real bad as mi work very hard fi plant mi field," Cameron told the court.

She told the court that she farms yam, banana and plantain along with other cash crops.

The complainant who was in court denied the accused man's claims.

"A lie she a tell your Honour a she an har boyfriend try to tief mi ram goat when mi ketch dem a dat time dem beat mi in a mi neck back," Kevin Cameron said.

Allegations before the court are that on August 10, the complainant was severely beaten by his irate sister who confronted her brother after she caught one of his goats in her field. The much taller brother was given a sound beating.

Both were told to seek counselling from the Probation's Department and return to court on November 18.
