Two arrested for ganja seizure

The Portland police yesterday arrested two men in connection with the seizure of 270kg (600lb) of ganja which was reportedly destined for export.

Reports are that an operation was carried out along a section of the Bustamante Highway shortly after 2 a.m. when the compressed ganja was found in a Toyota Corolla motor car with two men aboard.

The men are to be charged with breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act today.

The police say in recent months, a number of arrests have been made in connection with the narcotics trade.

The police also say most of the persons arrested are from eastern parishes such as Portland, St Thomas and Kingston.
