DOG KICKED TO DEATH

A 19-year-old man who allegedly kicked a dog to death causing the animal to be thrown at least 20 feet in the air at the impact of the kick, faced the court yesterday.

Charged with cruelty to the animal is Leroy Hewitt, a labourer, of a Greenwich Avenue address.

Hewitt pleaded not guilty.

Allegations are that on August 26, the accused was observed by two police officers committing the malicious act of kicking the mixed-breed dog in its belly, causing its death afterwards.

Hewitt had his bail extended until October 13 when he will return to court.
