Inclusive Saturdays

Deviating from the norm, it was certainly a different crowd that turned out to enjoy Inclusive Saturdays at The Building, New Kingston on the weekend.

When THE STAR entered the venue, it was mainly occupied by a seemingly 'uptown' crowd and the 'regulars' at the venue were few in numbers.

Nonetheless, Chromatic got some of the patrons in the half full venue dancing to Elephant Man's Higher Level, Calm Dem Down and Nuh Linga. Despite his current legal woes, Flippa Mafia's Dem Ya was well received and so too was Buju Banton's Water Truck.

bottles knocking

ZJ Chrome got bottles knocking and numerous gun salutes when he selected Real Friends by Christopher Martin, D Major and Assassin. The response was even greater when he played Bounty Killer's Nuh Fren Fish and Mavado's Real McKoy. And, like the other selectors, his set was completely littered with Vybz Kartel songs including Nuh Fraid A Nobody, Badman Nuh Throw Word and Weh Dem A Guh. A Japanese woman got her few minutes of fame when she took to the centre of the dance floor and danced to Beenie Man's Back It Up.

Coppershot Disco changed the pace with Chris Brown's Deuces, which the patrons responded to very well. They also sang along to Got Your Back with T.I and Keri Hilson. When All I Do Is Win was played the patrons threw their hands in the air and shouted expletives at intervals.

Continuing with more recent songs, the sound system played Wayne Marshall's Messing With My Heart and Mavado's Mad Ova. By the time they got to Aidonia's Bad People, more patrons began to occupy the centre of the dance floor. They also sang along to I-Octane's My Life and Shawn Storm's A My Life, before Coppershot reverted to the older songs that were being played all night.

The people were not daunted by this, as the dancing continued into the wee hours of the morning.
